Acupuncture

acupuncture needlesAcupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicine in the world, having originated in China over 2,000 years ago. Acupuncture is based on the concept of qi ("chee"), the bioelectricity that flows through our bodies. Qi flows along pathways in our body called meridians. When the flow of qi in the body becomes disrupted or blocked, illness develops. With the body’s energy out of balance, it cannot function properly. By inserting very fine, sterile needles at various points along the meridians of the body, we can release these blockages and restore the body’s natural flow of energy, helping it return to a state of health.

Acupuncture can help address a wide variety of health concerns including but not limited to headaches, allergies, asthma, digestive issues, fertility, PMS, stress and anxiety and musculoskeletal pain to name a few. Balanced Health Acupuncture also offers an A La Carte Menu of mini treatments for new patients to "try out" acupuncture or for existing patients looking for a quick tune-up, as well as a Smoking Cessation & Detox Program, an affordable 4-week program geared toward helping you break the habit and cope with the cravings and withdrawl. Tong Ren

tong renTong Ren is a form of energy healing. It blends the Eastern idea of qi (energy in the body) with Western anatomy and physiology. Tong Ren is an energy therapy that does not require touch or the insertion of needles. In treatment, the practitioner directs energy to the areas of the patient where there is blocked energy. Only by removing the blockages in the body will the body begin to heal. Tong Ren treatments can be done in person or remotely over the phone. It can be incorporated into an acupuncture treatment or it can be the sole focus of treatment, particularly for those who are needle sensitive. Tong Ren Therapy was first developed as an effective treatment for cancer patients though practitioners have seen amazing results with a variety of illnesses and diseases including Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, diabetes, arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, musculoskeletal pain, thyroid disease, and many others.

Because of its success treating many cancer patients, doctors at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute took note and a research study was conducted to examine Tong Ren’s effectiveness. The positive results of the study were recently published in the Complementary Health Practice Review. Learn more about Tong Ren by clicking here

Nutrition Counseling

NutritionA healthy, balanced diet is a key component to optimum health. Many people place high importance on the type of gasoline or oil that they put into their cars so shouldn’t we also put high importance on the type of food and drink that we ingest to fuel their own bodies?

At Balanced Health Acupuncture, I educate patients on the importance of a balanced diet and assess how their diet choices may be influencing their current health concerns. As part of each patient’s treatment plan, I offer easy-to-implement nutrition suggestions that will enhance his or her overall health.
